NAHMPAN HONOURS PROFESSOR ODIMAYO, MARKS HERBAL DAY IN GRAND STYLE
The Natural Herbal Mixture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (NAHMPAN) has honoured the Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Health Matters, Professor Simidele Odimayo, with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his distinguished service and commitment to the advancement of health care delivery in the state.
The award presentation formed part of activities marking the NAHMPAN Herbal Day Celebration, held at the Senior Staff Club, Alagbaka, Akure.
Earlier in the day, the leadership of the association paid a courtesy visit to Professor Odimayo in his office to acquaint him with the vision, mission, and ongoing initiatives of the group.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Tayo Adejuyigbe, Chairman of NAHMPAN, Akure South Chapter, commended the State Government’s support for traditional medicine practitioners and expressed the association’s readiness to collaborate more closely with government health agencies.
“We believe that through partnership and mutual understanding, we can complement government efforts to achieve better health outcomes for our people,” said Mr. Adejuyigbe.
Responding, Professor Simidele Odimayo, an erudite Microbial Pathologist and respected academic, lauded the association for its commitment to promoting indigenous medicine.
“The Ondo State Government values your group as an integral part of our health sector. I urge you to continue to seek knowledge, maintain high ethical standards, and uphold sincerity in practice,” Professor Odimayo said.
He further noted that the government recognizes the potential of alternative and herbal medicine in strengthening the state’s healthcare system and would continue to create an enabling environment for practitioners to thrive.
During the evening event, which was well attended by stakeholders and dignitaries from across the state, NAHMPAN formally presented the Award of Excellence to Professor Odimayo, describing him as “a medical giant and a beacon of integrity in public health service.”
The award was received on behalf of the Special Adviser by Mrs. Lucy Akerele, the Executive Secretary of the Ondo State Alternative Medicine Board, who expressed appreciation on behalf of Professor Odimayo.
“Professor Odimayo deeply appreciates this honour. He remains committed to policies and programs that will uplift traditional and alternative medicine in the state,” Mrs. Akerele stated.
The colourful event also featured lectures, cultural performances, and exhibitions of herbal products, underscoring the association’s commitment to promoting safe and evidence-based herbal practices.
