Incessant Blasting: Dortmund Company Seeks De-escalation Of Issues, Sends Emissaries As Prominent People Intervenes
After Days of Backlash: Dortmund and Company Limited Sends Emissaries to Uluyagbo Amidst Blasting Complain.
ULUYAGBO — Following several days of intense public outcry and protests from residents of the Uluyagbo community, Dortmund and Company Limited has dispatched a team of emissaries to engage directly with the community leaders and affected locals. The move is seen as an attempt to de-escalate rising tensions over the company's extensive blasting operations in the area.
The decision to initiate discussion comes after community members rose strongly against his operations within the community, voicing strong opposition to the continuous blasting, citing significant damage to their properties and a severe disruption to their daily lives. Grievances include cracked building walls, excessive noise pollution, other environmental hazards and growing fears for the safety of children and the elderly.
Speaking on phone to newsmen on the remedial measures by the Dortmund company after the visit of the Chief Adelakun led team, Mr Odimayo said the company has sent Kabiyesi of Imafon to them, and they have met. "Even though the discussion is a welcome development as it infers a better way forward, I still must express cautious optimism," he stated. "We have listened to what they have to say, but we expect prompt and concrete action when we relay feedback with them after the community's meeting."
Remaining skeptical. "We've heard meetings" said Osanyin, and nothing has followed yet we are expecting strong outcomes when we present our resolve to them as Mr Odimayo has told you.
Chief Adetan, a local homeowner whose house has reportedly suffered structural damage said the meeting Olumafon summoned will only be meaningful if it results in compensation for our losses and a drastic change in how they conduct their blasting. Our patience is wearing thin."
The outcome of the meeting between Dortmund and the Uluyagbo community is yet to be determined, but it represents a critical juncture in the relationship between the company and its host community. The residents of Uluyagbo are standing firm, hopeful for a peaceful resolution but prepared to continue their move if their concerns are not adequately addressed.
