RUGIPOL NAPS SET TO ESTABLISH CNG CENTRE

BREAKING: Rufus Giwa Polytechnic to Host New CNG Conversion Centre

OWO, ONDO STATE – The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), Southwest Zone, has announced the establishment of a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conversion Centre at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo. The project, set to be commissioned next month, aims to drive technical innovation and provide students with practical skills in sustainable energy.

The initiative is sponsored by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Ondo State Governor on Student Affairs, Hon. Kevin Solomon Olaolu. According to NAPS, the project aligns with the Federal Government's "Renewed Hope Agenda" and promotes the transition to green energy within Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Comr. Obasanya Monday Johnson, the NAPS Southwest Zonal Coordinator, stated that the centre is a key part of his agenda to ensure polytechnic students graduate with practical skills in addition to their academic certificates. "This initiative will not only benefit Rufus Giwa Polytechnic but also create opportunities for skill acquisition, green energy transition, and economic sustainability for students across Nigeria," he said.

The project is being developed in collaboration with the management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic and the institution's Students' Union Government (SUG), led by Comr. Shane Thompson.

Once completed, the CNG Conversion Centre will serve as a training and service hub, positioning students to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the automotive gas industry. NAPS hopes the centre will become a model for other institutions nationwide.
