Completion Of Ashafa Street Road Construction, Comr. Deji Adebayo Hails Kasumi, Faleke.
Completion Of Ashafa Street Road Construction Project As Facilitated By Hon. Richard Kasumu, DML: Our Reasons For Appreciation
23rd June 2025
With our hearts full of gratitude to the Almighty God and immense appreciation to His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu (BOS), the Executive Governor of Lagos State, for releasing funds for this project through the Lagos Ministry of Infrastructure under the supervision of the esteemed Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat (KOH), a prestigious alumnus of Nigeria's premier university, we wish to sincerely appreciate the Lagos State Government for this remarkable project, which is beyond our expectations.
In a statement made available to newsmen Comrade Deji Adebayo appreciated the esteemed Member of the House of Representatives, Ikeja Federal Constituency, Rt. (Hon) Chief James Abiodun Faleke Ph.D (JAF), the Koseleri of Ikeja, for fast-tracking the strategic tarring of Gbadamosi Street during the first phase of his massive road projects across Ikeja Federal Constituency. Do note that a total of 17 roads were constructed as facilitated by JAF at the time, which, by divine arrangement, had a resultant effect on the nomination of Ashafa Street road tarring, as nominated by our able representative at the Lagos House of Assembly to the State Government.
"It is noteworthy to avow that the first recorded government project in Ashafa/Obafunmilayo Streets since 1999, until 2019, was the street lights facilitated by JAF in two phases. Since then, countless projects and empowerment have been executed in his credit, which has brought glory to our great party, the All Progressives Congress. We appreciate you, sir, our esteemed MHR, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, PhD (Atunluse of Ikeja)."
This tribute of accolades would be meaningless if I didn't particularly thank the sagacious and youthful Deputy Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and our representative in Ikeja State Constituency 2 Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasumu (ARK), who magnanimously accepted the nomination of Ashafa Street road tarring as one of the road projects, accorded his office for consideration by the State Government.
"You are wonderful, and history will never forget you sir, your party, and the Lagos State Government for this kind gesture. We are indeed enjoying the dividends of democracy and the benefits of tax payment and compliance with government levies at all strata. Like Oliver Twist, we still want more!"
I must also use this opportunity to appreciate your Special Assistant to the DML on media, Mr. Shola Folowosele, for his relentless efforts in ensuring we reached Hon. ARK throughout the expectation of this project for about two years before eventual commencement even after about a year and a half after tarring was done before completion of street lights was done on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Honourable sir @Hon Kasumu, I recall that this project was launched by you in May 2023, even when our community started welcoming the contractors' machines on April 1st of the same year, which wasn't an April Fool's Day joke but has now become a reality.
The Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Mr. Segun Odunmbaku (DOS) must also be appreciated for his express permission and support for the community when we encountered serial security challenges during the road construction period.
Although we had multiple challenges, even with the construction workers, the custodian of our culture and traditional supreme leader of Yakoyo Lagos State, Chief Jamiu Lamidi Atanda Amore, _Baale of Yakoyo and Proconsul of the Yakoyo Dynasty_, who nominated the Ashafa Street project and saw it to completion, must not be forgotten for his intervention when necessary. Kabiesi kept calling concerned stakeholders on our behalf until issues were resolved.
"Your passion and distinguished role in the struggle for the development of the Yakoyo community in Lagos state are immortal and will be remembered for good in the annals of our community history. Oko ilu, today, the way you met Yakoyo town when you attained the throne less than a decade ago has drastically changed, making us wish we had you earlier. Kudos to you, sir. Your efforts are truly appreciated."
Meanwhile, can this epistle end without properly appreciating the Yakoyo CDA leadership led by *Chief Michael Shokenu* and other notable elders within the community who supported this project in one way or another? Ditto, I also sincerely appreciate the entire landlords and residents of Ashafa Street, with the ASRA Board of Trustees Chairman, Pa S.A. Dada, as the point of reference for all members of ASRA, including residents and executives who have sacrificed and ensured the success of this project.
"I, Comrade 'Deji Adebayo (DJB) say thank you to everyone! Meanwhile, we still hope that this project will be considered by the appropriate authority for a linkage to Adebowale Street. This request has been made verbally and formally on several instances, and this is a recall to the yearnings of our people, as it will be of immense benefit to the entire community in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of the performing Governor of Lagos State and the H.E.Y.S Agenda of "Mr. Project," the Council Chairman of Ojodu LCDA.
Just like Oliva Twist, we anticipate using your good offices to again facilitate the construction of a road linking Ashafa Street to Gbadebo Close, tarred and connected to Adebowale Street, which is less than 100 meters in length. It is when we have this that our community will consider this project to be fully completed, as it will ease traffic along the corridor of the Lagos-Ijoko road towards the state boundary at Alagbole bridge."
God bless Governor Sanwo-Olu,
God bless Hon James Abiodun Faleke,
God bless Hon Richard Kasumu, DML,
God bless Baale of Yakoyo,
God bless us all
Amen.
