The Governor Aiyedatiwa-led Ondo State government has secured another huge deal from the United States Centre for Disease Control to better curb the spread of Lassa fever, increase surveillance and emergency responses.
The United States delegation led by Dr. Ipadeola Oladipo landed in Ondo State to appraise Lassa fever ailments prevalence, the impact of surveillance measures and response, and engage necessary stakeholders in a bid to curb the ailment's incidences among others.
According to the USCDC's team, which includes Victor Ejeh, Dr. Yemi Adelabu and led by Dr. Ipadeola Oladipo in an extraordinary meeting with the Special Adviser on Health to the Executive Governor in Akure on Wednesday Dr. Yemi Adelabu said the United States is interested in Ondo State, having seen it as the epicentre of Lassa occurrences.
"We are here as a technical support organisation to develop and improve response capacity to diagnose and offer accurate treatment in order to complete the optimization process, in terms of community surveillance all through the year so as to foster prompt emergency treatment response, and avowed fresh support for capacity building."
The delegation availed the moment to acknowledge the impact of the strides of the state government led by Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa in ensuring quality and affordable healthcare in the interest of the residents of Ondo state.
"We have heard of the giant strides of Gov. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa in ensuring quality healthcare, prioritizing affordability, and unhindered access to health facilities at all times. This truly reflects his determination and church minds to birth a new history in the anal of Ondo state, and it's commendable."
Earlier, the team had inspected the molecular laboratory centre in medical village, Laje, Ondo City to ascertain usage, capacity and cure areas of development to assuage the bottlenecks in diagnosis, offer accurate assistant and training.
In his statement, the Special Adviser to the Governor on health, Prof Michael Simidele Odimayo thanked the United States CDC team, emphasizing the unwavering dedication and commitment of the Governor to scale up the health need architecture of the state, making it a pace setter.
He, however, noted the quick swing into action of the state in implementing the key recommendations given to contain gaps bringing about better efficiency and service delivery.
