There was confusion and intense fear in Ode Irele, Ondo State, on May 5, 2025, when 41-year-old Odunayo Olomolatan, the son of a local landlord, allegedly hacked his 22-year-old tenant, Joy Tale, to death during a heated argument.


Sources reveal that the brutal altercation escalated, resulting in the young woman’s untimely death in the small town of Ode-Irele, where residents are in serious fear, still reeling from the shocking incident.


Confirming the incident, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, stated that the suspect, Odunayo Olomolatan, was swiftly arrested and is currently in police custody at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ode-Irele.


He said the police had launched an intensive investigation to uncover the precise motives behind the savage attack.


The gruesome killing has sent shockwaves throughout the community, prompting local leaders to urge residents to remain calm and avoid taking matters into their own hands.


In statement made public through his media aide, Prof Simidele Odimayo called for calm, assuring the public of measures to ensure justice is served, insisting the suspect will not evade accountability and consequences of his action.
