DETACH SCHOOL OF NURSING FROM UNIMED; GROUP URGES GOVERNOR AYEDATIWA
DETACH ONDO STATE SCHOOL OF NURSING FROM UNIMED; GROUP URGES GOVERNOR AYEDATIWA.
…Says A Nursing of School Run Its Own Curriculum
The Ikale United Front, a foremost sociocultural group in Ondo state has urged Gov. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa to separate the Ondo School of Nursing from the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo claiming it is a deprivation of opportunity for our younger generations.
In a statement made available to newsmen at the end of the national extraordinary meeting, by the coordinator, Comrade Jan Oladipupo, the group after extensive deliberation has come up with a communique to condemn the merger of the Nursing School with UNIMED as almost every state in the country has a Nursing School that runs a different curriculum from university’s nursing science course.
According to the henchman of the group, “A technical school is not a polytechnic; hence a polytechnic cannot assume the role of technical college. A University cannot be so ambitious to usurp a luxuriating Nursing School and derail its vision. If UNIMED desires anything of sort, it should wait for its time to grow it.”

COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE EXTRAORDINARY MEETING OF THE IKALE UNITED FRONT ON 11TH APRIL 2025 AT TIANA LODGE, OKITIPUPA ON THE MATTERS ARISING IN ONDO STATE
The Ikale United Front (IUF), being a foremost sociocultural group in Ikale land, a major ethnic formation of Ondo State, and as a major stakeholder in the progress of the state, hereby come up with these resolutions as follows:
1) That we congratulate the Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Ayedatiwa once again on his inauguration as the state’s chief executive officer and urge him not to depart from the path of progressivism the state is noted for.
2) That the Governor should step into the issue of insecurity to save people’s precious lives and especially protect the agrarian settings of the state.
3) That we note with dismay the non-existence of a School of Nursing in the state, as the previously existing one has been merged with the University of Medical Sciences, UNIMED, Ondo.
4) That we condemn the merger, refer to it as a deprivation of our younger generation since almost no state exists in the country without a school of nursing, which curriculum is designed differently from the one of university’s Nursing Science course.
5) That we urge the government to immediately detach the School of Nursing from UNIMED or proceed to site another one somewhere else in the state.
6) That the government should facilitate the employability and massive employment of the youth, and the general populace in order to achieve peace and stability in the state.
