Harps On Cooperation And Unity of Purpose Among Elders And Leaders.
The Irele local government area of Ondo state has held its elders, essential stakeholders and leaders meeting yesterday at De' JaVu Hotel, Akure, the state capital.
The meeting conveyed at the instance of the Special Adviser on Health to Ondo state Governor, Prof Simidele Odimayo witnessed the coming together of all the elders, and leaders of the ruling APC across Irele local government where important issues bordering on the development of the local government were discussed.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the organizing committee, Hon. Segun Akinyode appreciated all the leaders who defied personal agendas and schedules to be in attendance in the interest of peace, unity, and progress of Irele local government.
Delivering the goodwill message, the Special Adviser on Health to Ondo state Governor, Prof Simidele Odimayo said the reason for the meeting underscores the importance of utilizing the opportunities we have in His excellency, Gov. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to drive advancement to our land.
Prof Odimayo highlighted the various ongoing projects across Ondo state with emphasis on Irele local government, described the commitment and zeal of Mr Governor to transform the state, in terms of infrastructural development, better healthcare delivery, human capacity building, energy and effectiveness, tourism as well as employment of our youths in order to bring the state to an enviable height within the shortest period as top-notch.
"It is sacrosanct and expedient particularly the elders and leaders who are expected to provide candid advice and guidance, to drop our differences, and embrace unity. The time to come together and table issues bordering on the progress of our area and the good people of the local government is now, sought the cooperation of everybody as the adage says a 'tree cannot make a forest', while wishing the gathering a peaceful and fruitful deliberations."
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Irele local government, Hon. (Deac.) Jide Akinfe thanked the leaders and the organizers of the meeting, harping on the need for cooperation in the interest of the good people of Irele local government. He extolled the Governor's initiatives in appointing an illustrious son of Irele, Prof Simidele Odimayo into his cabinet, which truly depicts his readiness to bring up competent hands for effective governance.
In the same vein, Senator Yele Omogunwa, a former Commissioner, and former Senator who represented Ondo South senatorial district, expressed deepest appreciation to the Executive Governor of Ondo state, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa for counting Irele worthy of appointment in this first instance, charged Prof Simidele Odimayo on ensuring peaceful coexistence in the local government at this time.
Moreover, The APC Chairman, Irele local government, Chief Z. I Omoge, expressed joy in the style of Prof Simidele Odimayo to have promptly called for this epoch gathering, where leaders could brainstorm on the development of the entire local government with the main aim of uniting the people so as to drive dividends of good governance to our area.
The local government woman leader, Chief (Mrs) Titilola Omosowo harped on the need to prioritize the development of the local government over personal ambition. She okays the leadership style of Prof Odimayo, saying the coming together of elders and leaders in this manner is a pointer to good leadership prowess, optimistic of a sustainable and inclusive leadership in this new phase of politics.
However, the former MHA and one time Chairman of Irele local government, Hon. Bar Segun Ajimotokin who spoke on the need to rally around Prof Simidele Odimayo at this moment said Irele is most elated to have our son appointed by Gov. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa into the state cabinet describing the appointment as cogent for Mr Governor's good intentions for the state, a testament to his native intelligence, Godly wisdom borne out of readiness to bring innovations into the state through competent hands, expressed sincere gratitude to Mr Governor. He availed the opportunity to charge the leaders on standing up to their roles. He condemned the misleading information on social media about Irele leaders' conclusion on any endorsement.
He said it is not good enough to segregate or condemn others because you need a favour, stressing the need to collaborate with other stakeholders to bring fortunes to Irele LG.
Hon. Adewale Akintimehin, a former Irele council chairman and Ondo Senatorial Chairman, in his own contributions, suggested a regular elders and leaders meeting, reiterating advantages of cooperation among a people. His suggestion was supported by Hon Sayo Ogunmade and many others.
Hon. Tobi Nicholas Akinbiola observed the short-change of Irele local government Indigenes in the last TESCOM and SUBEB employment insisting the gap in leadership caused it. A statement that was corroborated by Hon. Shadrack Olowojuni, Chief Femi Moyegun, Bar. Dele Akinyelure and others, promising Irele LG's readiness to cooperate with Gov. (Dr) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to succeed in Ondo state.
It was unanimously agreed that elders and leaders/stakeholders meeting must continue regularly even as the party's congress approaches after which a committee was set up to compile list of projects across the local government with the intention of developing a thank you communiqué to the Governor.
