Days After Free To Shine Inauguration: ODSG Commences Free Hepatitis B Treatment.


The Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa led Ondo State Government has commenced free treatment for all patients who tested positive to Hepatitis B across the state.


The exercise is coming shortly after the free to shine Inauguration by the first lady of the federal republic of Nigeria, Sen Oluremi Tinubu's Renewed Hope Initiative health program, targeting total elimination of HIV, Hepatitis and syphilis among reproductive age, particularly in the rural areas.


The Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa's commitment to ensuring healthy living for all is topnotch considering his efforts to stabilize the health sector in the last one year.


Upon sworn-in, the Governor made known to the public his determination to take the state to an enviable height without leaving any stone unturned. 


Demonstrating this promise, it will be recalled that the state government carried out pilot conduct of liver (hepatitis B) test in six (6) local government areas of the state, representing two from each senatorial district, an exercise that brought to records scores of patients battling with such disease without any hope of adequate treatment.

As part of the Governor's commitment, he has however initiated the free treatment for all of such patients with immediate effect.

"Hepatitis B is a viral infection that damages your liver. You can get it if you’re exposed to infected bodily fluids. The acute form of the virus often goes away without treatment. But chronic hepatitis B is an incurable illness. Treatment is medication to reduce the risk of the virus getting spread or cause complications."

It is therefore imperative to commend the Governor for another giant stride in the state health sector, and inform the general public of the free treatment for those living with such a virus (hepatitis) as follows. The date is Thursday 24th April, 2025 and Friday 26th April, 2025 at Ondo State Science and Information Technology Agency, SITA, opposite police microfinance bank, Alagbaka Akure from 10:00am.

The Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the dissolution of the management board of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA).
